A year ago, I announced Joaquin’s arrival in Ho Chi Minh City and his subsequent travels through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, taking in 3 major trade shows on the way. We were turning SmartOtels from a recognised and widely read brand into a resorts and hotels sales and marketing representatives business and it felt great!
Starting as sales and marketing representatives for our client resorts and hotels in South East Asia in February this year, SmartOtels have been very happy to add Montigo Resorts Nongsa, Batam (30 minutes off Singapore) to our portfolio since then but we have mostly focussed on building business and marketing opportunities for our clients, with considerable success.
All of SmartOtels’ clients now enjoy a much higher profile in the UK and Europe and rising volumes of business from here. 3 of our client resorts and hotels have already been featured in the UK’s Daily Telegraph and Guardian newspapers as well as Conde Nast traveller, some more than once, and all have a growing list of UK and Europe based operator clients.
As with all sales, the more we can offer, the faster we will get through doors. So, it is time to work on building our client base. Joaquin arrived in Bangkok a week ago to meet some of the luxury and boutique resorts and hotels we have been talking to over recent months. He is now in Phuket and will go on to Ko Samui, Laos and Cambodia before returning to Bangkok for IT&CMA at the end of the month. Then it’s back to London to prepare for World Travel Market – sales for current and new resorts and hotels – in early November.
Joaquin said: “A lot of my friends think I have a great role visiting some of the world’s best resorts and hotels! But, I am here because it is important to build the relationship on a person to person basis so that we can truly become an extension of each resort’s and hotel’s sales team and not just a name on an e-mail. It’s important to make sure we are all on the same page and working to the same objectives. That said, it’s impossible to not enjoy being where I am – it’s our passion for, and focus on, this region that will ensure SmartOtels continue to succeed as sales and marketing representatives for resorts and hotels here.”
SmartOtels portfolio currently includes:
Needless to say, we expect to announce more resorts and hotels as clients soon !
