Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM) – a very important regional travel trade event – started in Bangkok today and SmartOtels will be fully represented by Ally Pasaprates, until very recently a senior executive of a major hotel investment company and franchisee across several countries in South East Asia. Ally has a strong background in sales, marketing and operations of hotels – a career she started in London after gaining a degree at Bournemouth University in the UK.
SmartOtels currently provide sales and marketing representation services in the UK for 7 client hotels and resorts in South East Asia in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam. With a focus on luxury and boutique hotels and resorts, each property pays a small monthly fee for the service which, by combining sales and marketing activities for several properties at a time, makes it very affordable for independent luxury properties to have their own sales office in London and often gain an advantage over major chains because SmartOtels acts as an extension of the property’s own sales team, in each case.
Joaquin Cababie, director of SmartOtels, said: “with Matthew Brooks and myself very busy in the UK providing the service our clients need, including attending a VIP Reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London tonight, we are delighted that Ally Pasaprates, who I have known for several years, is able to represent SmartOtels effectively at this crucial regional travel trade event. SmartOtels operate to three criteria which are very important to us:
- We will not contract a resort or hotel if we are not confident that we can add value to the business by delivering a strong return on investment.
- Our clients know us, so they have a strong, personal link with the people actually selling their hotel on the ground in the UK.
- We have a clear focus on resorts and hotels in South East Asia only, until such time as extending our reach further may deliver a better ROI for our clients.
Being represented by Ally Pasaprates at Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM) enables us to pursue business here in the UK for our current clients whilst also meeting up with prospective clients and those UK-based tour operators we know are in Bangkok for this event.”
Matthew Brooks, co-founder and director of SmartOtels said: “It so happens that this important travel trade event has come at a time when tourism to Thailand is suffering a short-term setback because of alarmist headlines and mis-representation of the situation in Thailand in western media. We felt it was very important for SmartOtels to demonstrate our support by being in Bangkok as well as on the ground here in the UK. Consequently, we are delighted that Ally Pasaprates is free to represent SmartOtels and she is, of course, a well known figure in the hospitality industry in South East Asia with many important connections.
