After a busy schedule travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in over 8 weeks and attending 3 major travel trade events in the process – ITC in Ho Chi Minh City, IT & CMA Bangkok and ITB-Asia in Singapore, Joaquin Cababie has returned this week to Bangkok to set up the SmartOtels office in the city.
SmartOtels has already announced hotel and resort clients in Bali, Indonesia and expects to announce a further boutique hotel client in Malaysia very soon. We are also in detailed discussions with a number of other hotels and resorts across the region, also including hotels and resorts met in the Philippines and Thailand met at World Travel Market, London by Matthew Brooks and we expect to make further announcements about these over the coming weeks.
Joaquin is able, when and where appropriate, to travel to the Philippines to meet with prospective hotel and resort clients there. SmartOtels agrees with the assessment of the head of the UN World Tourism Organisation that encouraging tourists to continue with their planned visits to the Philippines will assist the country enormously in making a recovery from the very recent disaster there and we are anxious to support that wherever possible and to assist in the growth of tourism to the Philippines.
Bangkok is an excellent base with very good transport links for travelling to visit hotels and resorts elsewhere in Thailand and for going back for further discussions with hotels and resorts in Cambodia and Vietnam and Joaquin will be based there for some months. Over the next few months, working from the SmartOtels office in Bangkok will enable Joaquin Cababie to finalise agreements with a selected portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts in the region whilst attracting new business from our U.K. and European markets for those hotels and resorts already committed.
